What Keywords Should You Use For Tiered Link Building Anchor Text?

If you have been keeping up with our articles for a while, you will know by now that link-building is essential to good SEO and high ranking.

Maybe you are considering purchasing one or more of our link boosting packages to make your life easier and see results fast. But what keywords should you use as anchor text to link from Tier 2 to Tier 1 properties? Should you put in general terms or be specific? And what about linking to your money site?

As always, we've got you covered. Keep reading to find our best advice for anchor text optimization from different tiers. Following these outlines can help you build a stronger backlink profile, strengthen your link building strategy, and get better results for your target keywords.

Tier 1: the Bullseye

The best way to go forward in Tier 2 and Tier 3 is to use broader keywords as well as generic and naked URLs. Fortunately, if you purchased our products you will not need to worry about generic and naked URLs — our link-building team will take care of those.

However, you will still have to submit broader keywords so that we can then expand and create larger keyword sets to use on your project - just what you should do if doing it yourself.

Your first instinct — especially if you are working on local businesses — may be to use keyword + city. Yet this is not the best choice, as it is typical of a Tier 1 anchor text rather than a Tier 2. It doesn't mean that it never happens on a Tier 2, but it is a lot less frequent.

Think of it as a bullseye. Your money keywords — your bullseye keywords — are going to be right in the center. Those are going to be the ones you have long-tailed, as to say your “service + city” or “service + geomodifier”. The whole bullseye is going to point right at its center, where you will find these terms.

Therefore, Tier 1 is where you use mainly brand anchors, naked URLs, and some exact match. Don’t overdo exact matches here either, because if you have your on-page correct and tight, you can rank with just brand URLs and naked URLs and you won’t even need keyword anchor text links.

Choosing Your Tier 2 and Tier 3 Keywords

Tier 2 would be the next ring out. Keywords are going to be broader here, with a lot less frequency of exact match. Since exact matches are your bullseye terms, they should be tighter or reserved mostly to Tier 1. As well as your broader terms, work on generic and naked URLs.

Once you get to Tier 3, you can take it even further. Go up to market-level keywords, industry keywords while using more generic, more naked URLs.

What About My Money Site?

If you're buying link-building packages, you will notice that we don't allow you to submit your money site.

Instead, we will only link to Tier 1 properties. That is because we are using tools in order to build the links and therefore don't recommend ever hitting the money site directly.

This is how we have been building our tiered structures. Try it out — as we test our methods in real life over and over again, we are sure you will be happy with the results.
